Molly had her kindergarten screening was this morning. It was her first visit to her new school and it went really well.
They greeted Molly by name and had a printed name tag for her to wear. Despite the fact that there was a mother intensely quizzing her son in the waiting area, it all seemed pretty relaxed.
Molly let the speech/language therapist lead her down the hall without even looking back. She told me afterward that they asked her things like what the letters of the alphabet are and they played games like, for example, "Say cowboy. Now say it without the 'boy.'" She said it was all easy. She was a little disappointed because I had told her the grown-ups were going to take her somewhere to play games. She says she was expecting something more like Candy Land.
The speech/language therapist came over afterward to tell me how funny it was that Molly told her, on the walk to the nurse's office, that she didn't want that "boy teacher." Clearly she didn't trust me to pass along that request to the principal. :)
While she was playing word games, the principal invited Kate and me to his office to ask questions about Molly's learning style and what kind of teacher we'd like her to have. It was so nice to be asked!
After the language screening, they took Molly to the nurse's office to test her vision and hearing.
She passed everything, got a little certificate and a sticker, and we came home. Kindergarten, here we come!

I think she is ready for the first grade.
SO exciting! The hardest part now for them is the way. Summer is an eternity when you are kid! They show off the fun new school and then don't let you go play for months! :)
